WordPress Sites in Minutes – My Interview with the team behind Beaver Builder WPCP: 053

Beaver Builder WordPress Plugin

It’s no secret that I have fallen in love with WordPress page builders… every time I see one that I haven’t tried I simply can’t resist.

Which is what happened with Beaver Builder.

As someone who started an online business with no intention of ever getting into web development or creating websites for clients, I love hearing how other web developers have scaled their businesses and stepped into something outside of client sites.

Which is what the guys over at Fastline media have done with beaver builder.

What I love about their journey to creating the plugin is that they were their own ideal customer. They were solving a problem for themselves and realized that this was an ideal solution for creating and deploying quality websites. I literally fell in love with this WordPress page builder the first time I tried it (you can test the plugin on their site. You gotta love live demos, right?).

I had a ball talking with Robby, Justin & Billy (the ‘guys’ behind beaver builder).

What You’ll Learn In This Episode

  • How they came up with the name (you know you wanted to know this too)
  • The shift in the market that caused them to go in a different direction
  • How one client’s needs led to the plugin
  • How beaver builder started as a back-end builder
  • Columns
  • Testimonials
  • Guarantee Box

Questions I asked the Beaver Builder guys:

  • What were you guys doing before you launched Beaver builder?
  • What challenges did you guys face when starting Beaver builder?
  • What are your thoughts on visual builders being heavy on sites?
  • What are your thoughts on people who feel everything should be done in code as opposed to using plugins?
  • What are the plans for Beaver builder?

  1. Great interview Kim – I really enjoyed it. I’m such a big fan of Beaver Builder. I’ve tested quite a few, but being particular about the markup they won easy,

What a bonus it was to find they were also smart, genuine and supportive. Their product just keeps getting cooler. I can’t wait for the conversion module.

    Thanks again

    1. My pleasure David, truly!
Yea… they’re a great group of guys with an amazing product. I wish I had found Beaver Builder sooner! Are you using it with their theme or any theme in particular?
I’m pretty excited to see the conversion module myself!
      Thanks also for listening.
      Kim

      1. Hey Kim. I’m another Genesis person. After a long time of owning Dynamik Website Builder and not using it, I checked out their forum and found loads of discussion about Beaver Builder. That is my combination now – mainly because I do a lot of things with functions.php and know Genesis.

I do really like the Beaver Builder theme too. If I have not build up one master theme crammed with Genesis snippets I suspect I would be using their theme only.

Again thanks for your interviews not just this one. You really are fab.

        1. Thanks David! 🙂
You made my day. Yea, I think the combo of Genesis & BB is a winning one for sure! I think I’m going to have to try the BB theme though too, just because I love the plugin so much I’m sure the theme is the same quality.
          Have a great week,
          Kim

    2. Hey David! Thank so much for the kind words and the support. We’ll be working on the conversion module here soon. Hold tight! 🙂

      1. No problem Robby – I just speak as I find. I’m extra excited about the conversion module, because it was one of my suggestion on the forum. The fact that it was in your sights anyway does not take away from it.

I completely know what you mean about the columns within columns dilemma. Many great products have been ruined by giving everybody what they what. And the most popular is not always the best long term solution. What I like about you guys is the way you openly rationalise these issues. I like that you are still coming at it from an agency perspective too.

  2. Beaver Builder ROCKS! I am using it with their own theme and it’s magical.

My site is still Divi and I’ve worked with Genesis/Dynamik on some others but right now Beaver Builder is it.

Great to hear what these guys are doing.

    1. Thanks Petrik,
I love your enthusiasm! That’s how I felt when I found it too!
They’re great guys and I’m excited to see where they take Beaver Builder.
      Thanks again,
      Kim

  3. Kim, this was a great interview (honest and fun). I must admit that I have never been a fan of page builders, however, this interview has completely changed my mind. I could have used this like 2 months ago on two client sites as well as my own!! I could have saved myself a ton of time and aggravation. Thank you so much for what you do and always finding tools that your audience can benefit from. I share your excitement of finding new tools to work with and this one will definitely be added to my toolbox! Keep the greatness coming.

    Thanks again!

    1. Thanks so much Regina!
You know me and my digging for tools! Page builders have come a LONG way in the last year and Beaver Builder has definitely raised the bar :-). I think this is just the beginning of what’s in store for this plugin (and from this team).
      Thanks,
      Kim

    1. Hi,
Nope, no issues with server resources.
It’s a very well programmed plugin and doesn’t weigh the site down at all.
      Thanks,
      Kim

  4. Hey Kim,

I’ve been away for a few months and now just catching up on your posts, hence the late comment.

Thanks for interviewing the Beaver Builder team. Billy, Justin and Robby are three awesome guys who are totally dedicated to their customers. It’s really great to see them being successful with Beaver Builder.

Also congrats to you for keeping your site fresh and interesting. You do a fantastic service to WordPress users:)

    1. Thanks so much Colin!
(Great name btw, that’s my son’s name).
I love the guys at BB and am thrilled they’re having so much success with their plugin (and theme).
Love what you’re doing too! I’ll be sure to subscribe so we can share your content as well.
      Thanks again,
      Kim
