Try This Experiment…

Is it Spring yet?

Sending lots of warm thoughts to all my friends in Texas… the fact that it’s colder in Texas than it is in Boise? Nuts.

My cousin called me yesterday after seeing my recent post on Facebook with a picture of all the snow last Saturday and asked me “do you love it or hate it?” I quickly responded with “hate it.”🤣

I’ve completely accepted that I’m not cut out for the cold, so I’m starting to plan for my next move (this summer). I have a couple of places in mind (both out of the country) and in warmer climates. ðŸŒ´â˜€

Until then?

I’ve got plenty to do to get ready for that big of a move.

Which is where my experiment comes in.

I’ve shared that in the last few months I had hit a wall with social media. It went from something I enjoyed to something that felt like a “have to do”… which for me, causes massive resistance.

Then it hit me that I could change my approach and I could choose to use these tools and platforms in a way that worked for me.

I recently wrote a post on Content Creators Planner that explains this more, you can read “The 9 Steps I’m Taking to Start Enjoying Social Media Again” here.

That all ties in with this experiment I’ve created for myself.

Once you’ve been in business for a while it’s very easy to get into a rut or do things that keep you in your comfort zone.

As much as I’m a creature of habit and love comfort, that’s not where growth happens.

And remember, you get to define what growth looks like for you.

It could be scaling to 7 figures it might be hiring a VA. Maybe it’s simply adding another thousand dollars a month to your profit (not sales) so you can start funding a dream.

Most entrepreneurs I know have dreams, which is why it’s imperative to keep growing.

Here’s what I’m doing.

I’m stepping outside of the circles I’ve been in for so long (and are so comfortable) to connect and reach out to other people.

I cherish the relationships and friendships I have but there comes a point where it feels a little incestuous (for lack of a better word).

In order for me to grow I need to create new connections and relationships.

I’m doing this by:

  • Engaging in communities that are newer to me or are extensions of courses I’ve purchased (novel idea).
  • Reaching out to interview and have conversations with people through these newer connections (someone left me a voice message in my DM on Instagram yesterday and I asked to interview her)
  • Getting back on Twitter and looking to have more conversations
  • Sharing: finding new content, products, and people to share
  • Getting back into live streaming (you’ll see this in Content Creators in the coming weeks)

The beauty of doing this is that it creates a domino effect.

One of my favorite Brene’ Brown quotes is “we’re hard-wired for connection.”

We grow our businesses with people, not tactics.

My challenge to YOU then is for you to let me know how I can help you.

If you have something you think is of value to my audience, hit reply and let me know. Let’s see if we can find a way to work together that is a win-win for everyone.

And just to save everyone some time, if it’s a pitch simply to promote a product it’s probably not going to happen. To use the dating analogy, that’s like going on a first date and proposing marriage.

On that note, it’s time for coffee #2.

Stay warm my friends.
