Trust Yourself… It Pays Off (Financially)
What do you think of when you hear the word trust?
I used to think of other people when I thought of the word trust, but not anymore. Well, not unless something happens that makes me question my level of trust in someone, but more often than not, it’s all about trusting myself.
Think about your business for a minute…
How many times have you done one of the following:
- Invested in something for your business that you were on the fence about, but felt like you ‘should’ jump in
- Hired someone or committed to working with a client that you really didn’t want to work with (or you saw red flags and ignored)
- Tried a methodology or tactic that didn’t resonate with you because you heard success stories or had a little FOMO (fear of missing out)
- Continued doing work you didn’t want to be doing because it was the only thing paying the bills (I’m raising my hand here)
Whether you’ve done one of these things or all of them (again, I’m raising my hand and have done all of them), all it means is that you’re human and you’re learning. As much as I don’t like to admit it, unfortunately, this is one of the ways we learn. Through trial and error.
What finally shifted for me was when I slowed down a bit and learned to listen to myself.
When I decided that I was going to trust myself with what I was doing and how I wanted to do it. (Cue Frank Sinatra…”I did it my way”).
This is where the magic started happening.
I fell back in love with my business. I thoroughly started enjoying the process and creation. Mastery became something I did for myself, not so I could come up with the right offer (which I did find through the mastery, but I wasn’t worried about how fast this happened or how much money I would make).
The best example I can give you of trusting myself recently was when I created my free course, Content Traffic Kickstarter.
I’ve created my fair share of lead magnets (ebooks, cheat sheets, email courses, audio downloads, etc.), but nothing has done as well as this free course has done (over 500 subscribers enrolled in less than 10 days).
Here’s the thing though…
This took time, energy, and a lot of planning to get this right (and I’m still tweaking it). But taking the time to do this correctly completely blew everything else out of the water in terms of results.
And I’m just getting started with it.
I’ve got a marketing calendar for promotion and am going to be running some paid traffic as well (but I’m testing FB ads to Messenger… this will be interesting), but I’m ridiculously excited about the results so far (feedback has been amazing).
Fortunately, because I’m a little obsessed with documenting everything (in this case I didn’t want to have to reinvent the wheel), I have the worksheets, tracking spreadsheet, and marketing calendar I used as well as the template for creating a successful free course that attracts quality subscribers you can build a relationship with.
So… I’m hosting a live class on this next week.
Here’s what we’re going to cover (and you get the worksheets, spreadsheets & calendar):
- Why you need to create a free course
- What course you should create
- How to create it (content type & delivery)
- Pre-marketing your course
- Releasing your course
- Ongoing promotion for quality leads
The class is being recorded so if you register you’ll get the replay (and I’m breaking this down even further in Kajabi, with additional training). This first time the class is 50% off! The price will go up immediately after the live class next week.
It’s Thursday, August 2nd at 11:00 AM PST.
