Taking Action Isn’t As Hard As You Think
Confession time… I woke up today with a theme song for the day in my head.
Cue Alicia Keys…”This girl is on fire!”…
Amazing what a couple of days can do, right? A couple of nights of good sleep and day of focused work and I’ve got my groove back. Mind you, I know myself pretty well so we’ll see how much momentum I have by the end of the week, but for today? All is well!
I went way deep into Anchor yesterday and had a ton of fun. I’ll save more of the details for you when the final post is done (side note: Anchor doesn’t have a blog on their site and it makes me a little crazy. They use Medium to post all their content, which is fine… but a link to their Medium content on the site would be great), but to see so many people in my Content Creators group get so excited about it AND… more importantly, take action, was beyond awesome.
Taking action isn’t as hard as you think.
You just need to get out of your head.
I was the QUEEN of making a mountain out of a molehill. Instead of just doing “the thing” (whatever that thing was), I found plenty of ways to distract myself or created this story in my head about what a pain in the arse it was to do whatever needed to be done (I even did this with stuff I “wanted” to do. crazy.). I had to log in to the site, find images, write, do a little research… woe was me.
Not anymore.
O.K., that’s not totally true. I still do this sometimes, then eventually I catch myself and get back on track. Or not. Sometimes the best plan of action is no action at all, and that’s O.K. too, as long as it doesn’t become your status quo.
Outside of what’s going on in my head, the next best thing I can do is surround myself with people with a similar mindset. People who want to move forward, take action, and quite frankly, choose to be responsible for everything in their lives. Taking a hard look in the mirror isn’t always the most comfortable thing, but when you do it, and the mirror doesn’t crack, you start finding some momentum.
That’s when things get fun.
As Brene’ Brown says, we’re hard-wired for connection.
Just because you work for yourself doesn’t mean you need to do this alone. The wins are that much sweeter and the challenges are that much easier to manage when you surround yourself with the right people.
That’s where Content Creators comes in!
I could NOT be more excited about this group… it feels like family. After all the Anchor fun we’ve had the last couple of days, someone posted this last night and it made my heart super happy (I blurred his name because I didn’t ask if I could share it):
And one more…
HOLY MOLY!
Such an amazing group of people.
THIS is when taking action is easy. When you have people around you supporting you, encouraging you AND… open to giving some constructive feedback as well.
