#FtheHUSTLE ~ 067 – Got Your Nose!

FtheHustle Newsletter

This week I want to share a little bit of a lesson (and you know me, we’re going to hit the tangible and the intangible).

I was recently listening to an episode of the Marketing Secrets podcast. The title is the lesson and I highly recommend listening to it. It’s called “Selling the Vision, Not the Product.”

Before we go any further, let’s assume you already know who your ideal customer is and you have the solution to their problem. You know this because you have a relationship with your audience and they’ve shared their struggles.

Moving on.

No one wants another ebook or course.

They want a solution.

This is why you want to sell them on how they’re going to feel when this problem is solved.

I was on a coaching call with a client recently and we were going over some copy on a sales page of hers. The page listed all the “stuff” people get when they join her community about social media (modules, calls, classes, etc.).

However… we don’t want more stuff.

If anything, we want less in our lives.

So instead of listing the “stuff”… we talked about how their life was going to feel when they could spend less time on social while getting better results (side note: I really don’t hate social media… even if it seems like I do 😉).

If you can teach someone how to do that in one video vs. a library of content they have to wade through?

Hands down ONE video wins every time. AND…

When you have the right copy, you can charge more for one video than a library of multiple videos.

I think you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who isn’t a little “time poor” these days.

The point of this lesson is that you’re selling a transformation (the vision), not a product.

It always comes back to the transformation.

Here’s the “intangible” piece of this lesson.

When you start doing this (and keep doing this) – whether it’s on a sales page, email, a Twitter thread, or Instagram post – you will start getting results.

And that is where the magic starts happening.

You get the tangible results of your efforts (more conversions) and you start gaining confidence and clarity, and much like interest on your money, both start compounding.

Best. Thing. Ever.

A Little Brainpower 🧠

This is one to bookmark. I have a book called “Words that Sell” (that I don’t have in Costa Rica…just saw there’s a Kindle version!). Here’s a great list of “69 Potent Marketing Words for Writing Copy that Converts” by Jonah Malin.

When it comes to SEO & content, it can be challenging to know where to start. Here’s a great article to help you start by using Pillar Content Pages – with visual maps – by Paul Blumer.

As a Harry Potter fan I probably found this more funny than most, but you have to admit it’s pretty good!  😂
