#FtheHustle ~ 055 – What Do You Want?
December 4, 2021 December 4, 2021 /
Welcome to December! ❄
As we get closer to winding down 2021 I’m starting to see end-of-year posts, reviews, and a look back on the last year (I always love reading these – there’s so much power in sharing your story).
This year has been a bit of a blur for me.
It’s hard to believe at this time last year I was in Boise, ID with snow outside my window! As much as I love looking at the ocean and 80-degree weather, I’ll admit that it feels a little odd for this time of year.
I love the changing of the seasons, cooler evenings, cozy nights, and all the memories that come up for me with fall and the holiday season.
That doesn’t really happen in Costa Rica 😉.
Naturally, this has made me start thinking that there might be another move in my future at the end of my year here (it’s hard to believe I’ve already been here 6 months!) – but who knows.
That’s how we learn though, right?
I’ve always been very transparent about trying things. It helps me get clear on what I want.
Which is where things should begin with your business.
What you WANT to be doing.
Not what you think you should be doing.
If you’re doing a year-in-review (even if you only do it for yourself), as you’re looking back on the last 11 months be honest about how much of your time is spent doing the things you WANT to be doing.
Then look at how much of your time is spent on things you don’t enjoy and would gladly hand off if given the chance.
If most of your time is spent on work you don’t enjoy because it pays the bills, you’ve simply created a job for yourself (no judgment here).
Let 2022 be the year that changes.
You don’t have to know what that looks like today, you simply start by deciding it’s going to be different.
Maybe you’ll decide you want more time freedom, income, better clients, projects that light you up, or that it’s time to go in a completely different direction.
Whatever you do, make sure it’s what want to do.
If you do a year-in-review post, I’d love to read it (and share it). Just hit reply, email me or tweet the link!
Let’s make the most of this last month!
A Little Brainpower 🧠
I only made a couple of purchases over Black Friday Cyber Monday, and both have to do with writing (CopySchool by CopyHackers and I signed up for Ship30for30). Since I’m deep into studying CopySchool with Joanna Wiebe, I thought this was appropriate to share. Read “10 Copywriting Tips from Expert Copywriter Joanna Wiebe” here.

Audio continues to be all the rage (which works for me, I love all things audio – podcasts, audiobooks, etc.). Well, it looks like Facebook is putting some effort into audio as well. I like the idea of short-form clips. Read “Facebook launches an ‘Audio’ hub in the US for podcasts, live audio and short form clips” here.

Tool Time 🛠
After Black Friday Cyber Monday I’m a little worn out from emails for tools… but the show must go on! 😉
- Writing: if you wanted to try Jarvis (AI writing) in the past but didn’t like the price tag, good news! They’ve created a smaller package for those who don’t need to write as much! Try Jarvis here.
- Payments: The all-in-one tool to bill, manage, and automate your payments – so you can get paid fast, from anywhere! Use ChimpCharge free here.
- Selling: In case you missed it last week, Gumroad did a big rebrand! Sell your digital products and services on Gumroad! Free to get started (and fees go down as you sell more). Try Gumroad here.
- Audio: I managed to get this when it was still on AppSumo, and I love the selection! Free music for your video and podcast projects!
Check out Uppbeat here.
Haha… you gotta love texting (not)! 🤣

Lastly, I’d be curious to know how you all felt after the Black Friday Cyber Monday weekend?
I started emailing an offer, then decided I needed to unplug more than I needed to market my business (sent all of one email).
Like I mentioned above, I picked up a couple of writing courses (and couldn’t resist buying some Tombow markers that were buy one get one FREE!), but in general, this weekend felt a little ‘flat’ for lack of a better word.
I think with sales starting earlier and getting extended beyond the 4 days, it’s starting to lose some of its appeal. I’m truly curious to hear your thoughts.
And if you did sell, I hope it went swimmingly well for you!
Until next week my friends,
Kim
